WELCOME

Welcome to Sage and Thyme Counselling.

The name Sage and Thyme was chosen to reflect two qualities that are often nurtured through the counselling process: wisdom and courage.

Sage represents insight, self-awareness, and the capacity to understand our experiences. Thyme symbolises resilience, strength, and the courage to move forward, even during life's most difficult seasons.

At Sage and Thyme Counselling, these values guide a compassionate, trauma-informed approach that supports healing, growth, and meaningful change.

Discover Your Strengths

Sometimes life asks more of us than we feel equipped to carry. Trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and uncertain of the path forward.

At Sage and Thyme Counselling, Sarah offers a compassionate, trauma-informed approach that honours the connection between mind, body, and relationships.

Combining advanced training in counselling and psychology with somatic and holistic approaches, she supports clients to move beyond survival and towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and wellbeing.

Rather than focusing on what's wrong, the work centres on understanding your experiences, recognising your strengths, and creating meaningful change that feels authentic and sustainable.

You already hold the capacity for growth and healing. Sometimes you simply need a safe space, supportive guidance, and the opportunity to reconnect with it.

           Your story and experiences matter.

And you don't have to navigate them alone.

Healing isn't about fixing what's broken. It's about understanding your experiences, reconnecting with yourself, and creating meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

Whether you're seeking support through a difficult chapter, wanting to better understand yourself, or looking to create lasting change,

Sage and Thyme Counselling offers a space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered.

About Me

Hi, my name is Sarah,

I am a counsellor with a background in psychology and a Masters in counselling, with a particular interest in trauma, human behaviour, relationships, and the ways people heal through connection.

My professional experience includes working alongside women, children, adolescents, and families impacted by domestic and family violence, as well as supporting individuals experiencing trauma, mental health challenges, addiction, adversity, and significant life transitions. This work has deepened my understanding of resilience, attachment, the nervous system, and the profound impact that relationships have on our wellbeing.

My approach is trauma-informed, person-centred, and holistic. I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Person-Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), strengths-based practice, attachment theory, and psychoeducation. I also incorporate somatic and body-based approaches, recognising that our experiences are not only held in our thoughts and emotions, but also within the body and nervous system.

I believe that every person is unique and that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to counselling. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or problems, I work collaboratively with clients to understand the broader context of their lives, relationships, values, strengths, and experiences.

My counselling style is warm, authentic, and grounded. I aim to create a space where people feel safe enough to explore difficult experiences, make sense of their stories, develop self-understanding, and move towards meaningful change.

'

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: people grow when they feel seen, understood, and connected—to others and to themselves.

You, Me and the Counselling Process

Counselling with me is a collaborative journey, guided by your needs, your pace, and your goals. Some people come with a specific challenge or situation they want support with, while others are looking to explore bigger life questions—developing skills, building resilience, or connecting more deeply with themselves.

Together, we can work on a range of areas, including:

  • Navigating life transitions and stressful moments

  • Healing from past trauma or grief

  • Strengthening self-compassion, self-care, and motivation

  • Building coping strategies and emotional intelligence

  • Exploring identity, relationships, and personal growth

  • Managing addictions or challenging patterns

  • Learning to be fully present and enjoy the moment

Counselling isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some people find that a few sessions give them the clarity and support they need to move forward, while others benefit from ongoing sessions during periods of stress, transition, or deeper healing.

This is your space—flexible, safe, and compassionate—designed to adapt to your journey. Together, we’ll create a process that meets you exactly where you are, helping you move toward the life and wellbeing you want to cultivate.
